Yesterday, I was playing with my Polish bunny and I was shaking his ring of baby keys at him and I tossed them on the floor. He went and picked them up and brought them back to me where I was sitting on the floor. I took the keys from him and tossed them, again. Again, he brought them back and dropped them in front of my lap. This continued for about 20 minutes. I thought it was just a fluke, but he's doing it again this afternoon. I think this is way cool.

That is so cool! Rabbits are much smarter than they get credit for.

mzdolittle, heres a neat story for you--i actually posted this in the general pet message board
a friend of mine had a german shepard named Benni. she was the absolute best dog in the world. i loved her almost more than i loved my horse and thats alot. she was my shadow and barn helper. she almost never left my side. well, her fave game was fetch. she would play for hours, and if you couldnt reach the toy or stick, just say gimmie, and she would pick it up and put it in your hand. well last october, her owners were out of state for the weekend and i was watching the animals. that night she got really sick and i didnt know what was wrong, so at 230 am, i had a friend help me get her in the car and i took her to the emergency clinic. unfortunatly, she died in the car on the way over. a hemoratic tumor on her spleen ruptured and she bled to death internally. everyone was shocked and devastated.
she was buried in thier flower bed. (yes there is a point to this story. its coming up)
well, exactly 2 months later, my friend was out in the barn, feeding our horses and she heard meowing. she thought it was one of her cats so she started calling him and out walked this little black and white cat. she called me about it because i wanted a cat and hadnt found any i liked. i went and got her.
she turned out to be a 1 yr old female. exactly what i wanted. i named her Talia--because my horse's name is Askim (askim and Talia--yes i am that strange)
ive had her about 3 months. recently, i bought her some new toys, some being these fuzzy soft tinsel balls that she absolutely LOVES!! and heres the neat part, just like Benni, her favorite game is FETCH!!!
its almost like benni sent her to me because i didnt have anyone to play fetch with anymore.

That is cool!
I have 4 rabbits. 3 mini-rexes and a holland lop but none of them fetch. My rabbit Hannah walks on a leash though!

What a neat bunny! Now you have to teach him to roll over and shake!

What I want to know is, how is it that MzD ends up with a bunny who has a fetching talent (adorable!) when my late golden retriever would gladly retrieve an item before discarding it where he found it? Now looking for a previously undiscovered and non-characteristic talent in my rats! Actually, they both get really excited when the nightly news theme comes on. Maybe they have hidden musical genius?

Maybe they have a crush on Tom Brokaw? His features are vaguely ratlike... lol!
