View Full Version : Stray Cat with Aural Hematoma
There is a stray cat that hangs around my apt which I feed everyday. This afternoon I noticed he has an Aural Hematoma. I know this because my kitty just had the same thing (his vet surgically drained it). My husband & I just can not afford to take him to the vet. I feel so bad for this cat. Does any one know if this hematoma will go away on its' own? I'm afraid it's going to pop & then possibly get infected. I called our vet for any suggestions, but I was told of none besides we could bring him in.

...hematomas need medical attention. What's happened is there's a broken blood vessel filling the tissue. When it busts...all the blood pours out...incredibly painful. The kitty needs to see a vet. Is this in an ear, or where is it?

Aw, the poor thing. Will he let you get him? could you take him to the shelter or call a rescue organization? Call around and see if there are any veterinary practices that will treat a stray at no or reduced fee? (the place I use does this)
(in edit I just rmemebered, you only have the one vet in your area)
Well, since I posted this message, I have not seen this cat around. I call out to him, but he has not been around. (Tiffers, the hematoma was in his ear)
I still leave food out for him, but he has not come around. It isn't like him not to be near by, he was always ready for his mealtime. I hate to say this but I don't think he's around anymore :(

I'm sorry to hear that. I'd still keep food out, you never know...
