Clean the ears with vinegar. If your pet's ears are filled with brownish-pink wax, there is a good chance that allergies have caused a yeast infection. To clear up yeast infections, clean the ears thoroughly.

Veterinarians often recommend using white vinegar (also called acetic acid), because it removes dirt and debris and helps restore a healthy chemical balance in the ears. Diluted vinegar works well. When using vinegar, pour a small amount into the ear canal, massage the area, then gently wipe the inside of the ear with a cotton ball. Do this once a day until the ear is better.

My boxer had never had an ear infection but everytime we go to the vet. they clean out her ears and tell me that they are unusually dirty and that I should watch her close for future infections.
Has anybody ever tried the vinegar and know if it's safe? I clean her ears right now with a dry gause and she actually loves it. I'd like to use an actual liquid solution to help break-up the ear wax. I was going to buy ear wash at my vet (at 30$ a bottle) but it seemed a little pricey for such a small amount.
Let me know if any of you have tried this to any success.

I wouldn't let anyone near my infected ear with vinegar! Can you imagine how much that might burn? I know that, in theory, the vinegar would be a good cleaner and may restore some kind of acidic balance, but a dog with an ear infection has often been scratching it fiercely resulting in tiny tissue tears. Introducing vinegar to a tear in the skin really, really burns. Chico gets ear infections periodically...he gets a prescription to clear it up and I use the vet ear wash (Epi-Otic ear cleanser)...I don't like to take chances with my guys' ears. ;)

I use the ear solution, from my vets office, called Vet solution. It works wells. My two Rotties are prone to ear infections, so I always have it on hand.

Yeah, I think I will buy it from the vet's office. I'm always to wary to try at-home methods.
