Hi, I am checking this petlovers out! I hope to chat with anyone who owns a "Maine Coone" cat. I have a beautiful one. She was a stray--I have had her for 5 years. She has such a personality. She isn't a "lap cat", but love to snuggle on the bed with you. Her name is "Tasha Marie", and is so spoiled. Would love to chat with another maine coone owner. Thanks, DeeH

Hi DeeH and welcome! I don't have a maine coone but I have 3 mutt cats and a persian. I think I'd have 1 of each if I could. Well, maybe not the hairless ones, they look like rats with long legs!:D Hope you enjoy it here.

Hi, thanks for responding. I notice you are from Michigan--man, I bet you have had so much snow you are ready to fly south!I am in Wisconsin (Madison area) we don't get as much snow. We do have a weather advisory tonite--flooding rain! can you believe it?
Anyway, I love my cat, but I too am an animal lover. I have "rescued" many animals--in fact I wrote a little story about all of them for my grandkids. I have ran down the "interstate" highway after a poor little poodle, and had a state patrol officer actually put his car in the Middle of the traffic and helped me get the little guy. We contacted the humane society, and the next day -- believe this!! A family from Illinois had been travelling through Wisconsin, Grampa had to "pee", and when they pulled off the interstate for grampa-- the poodle evidently scooted out and no one noticed him gone till they got home to Illinois. Anyway, turned out a happy story. It kills me to see any animal running around loose (I mean pets). Well, better go. Thanks for the note back. Bye DeeH

LOL Oh yes! I'm sick of the snow and cold for sure! I think your weather has come here. We have a flood watch too until 5pm with possible t-storms and record breaking temps. yeah!:D It's going to be 73 today but with 45 MPH winds. Although tomorrow is going to be 33 with flurries. YUK! But I will enjoy today for sure.

That is a great story about the poodle. I live in the country and am often stopping to rescue turtles trying to make it across the road but it's just a country road. That's so cool that your efforts reunited a dog with it's family. 2 of our cats were rescued by my daughter, one was 6 weeks old and starving to death and the other was a 2 day old kitten. Rescuing makes my day!

Got your last response. Man, how can your weather be 73 degrees????? We had rain all last night and finally quit, but terrible gloomy. No wonder us Midwest people get so depressed.
I have other "rescue stories" but don't want to bore you. I have put together a little booklet for my grandsons so someday they will know about my love for animals. They already know it though.
Nice chating with you. Happy spring. DeeH

Well I am sorry to say we didn't get to 73, but 69 was just as good for me!:D It was really windy but I got to open my house a little and as I'm sure you would know, that does wonders for cabin fever!:D The sun was mostly in hiding but when it came out I could pretend it was May. Oh I can hardly wait. I hate winter sooooooooooo much!

We love to hear rescue stories so please don't think you'll be boring us. We have people here who work for rescues, vets, you name it. And with all the bad things that people do to animals, we never get tired of hearing of the good stuff. Post them under general discussion and more people will see them. Honestly, we can never hear happy endings enough!

Good Morning,
Our weather here is the "pits". I am so ready for nice, SUNNY spring. My husband and I are big time into walking. We try to walk at least 3 times a week (6 miles each time), but is so depressing to go walking when it is so damp, and dreary. NO Sun!
Anyway, thanks for your little chats.
As for the stories of rescues, over the years when I see a dog running loose, I am always trying my best to catch them and return them to their owners.
On one of our walks a few years ago, I noticed a dog laying next to some railroad tracks. We thought it was dead, and I told my husband I should check it out as it may have tags on so I could let it's owners know. As I walked up to the dog, all of a sudden it lifted it's head up. I was so excited, but also apprehensive that I could be bitten. I got down on my knees and was talking to the dog (an afgan hound). It all of a sudden stood up, and shaking so badly walked over to me. It had been hit by a car or something. It had its tag on with a phone number. My husband had his cell phone, called the number and the people came within 15 minutes. They are so appreciative. They told us they had just moved to Wisconsin a short time ago, lived in another state where their dog had a nice yard. They now lived in an apartment and felt that their 7 year old dog need more space so they gave it away three days prior to me finding it. It evidently was scared of the people that had taken it and ran away. It upset me so that I scolded them and told that that dog considered them its "family" , and it's interest was to be with them.To me it would be like giving your child away. They thanked me, called me the next day and said they took the dog to their vet, was badly bruised but okay. They said they were not going to give him away again. Thanks for listening DeeH
