View Full Version : Help! Homer's peeing everywhere!

I have to get Homer to the vet. I was sitting in the kitchen just awhile ago, and heard "water" pouring...looked into the livingroom just in time to scream "Homer!"...I was in shock. Homer was standing, normal stance, just peeing. When I shouted, he looked at me like he had no idea what was wrong and he moved only as I came toward him very fast. As I said "out", he was still peeing...lots...all the way out the door. I found pee on my bed a couple of days ago... I knew it was Homer and thought maybe he got overly excited...we had just been playing a few minutes before.

Here are my concerns/questions:
1. He has not shown any other symptoms...no fatigue, he eats well, no blood in urine, no crying or other signs of pain
2. Does this behavior suggest a UTI?
3. Bladder stones usually cause pain...could he be developing them?
4. Does too much protein contribute to UTI or stones (he's been getting more than usual...shame on me)
5. Are there behavioral or training issues that might cause this?

Some of you know that I am already dealing with a special needs dog, Max...with his incontinence, insulinoma, seizures and need for special treatment every few hours. I'm a pretty calm person, but I am responsible for my babies. I am also caretaker for my mom who has some "special needs" right now as well. I know a trip to the vet is in order...bloodwork, urinalysis,...
I guess I just need a bit more support. Thanks.:(

I'd say take him to a vet for a UA first. That way, you don't start treating for a behavior issue when he's really got a Urinary problem.

I would say it may be the beginning stages, as he doesn't seem to be "marking", of a urinary issue, but take him in...better to be safe than sorry, especially with males and urinary problems.

...especially with males and urinary problems...

I thought it was more likely to happen to a female.

Anyway it sure sounds like an infection. What did the vet say?

I thought it was more likely to happen to a female.

She has a male with urinary problems...much more serious. You run higher risks of blocking.

His appointment is Thursday...first day I had free. I have horrible memories of poor Max's bladder stones. He didn't have overt symptoms either until all that hideous blockage. I'll let you know what they find. Thanks for the support guys.

That is good news, meaning it wasn't something more serious:)
