Wow...to risk federal charges. I guess they're like our former town mayor. He made a public statement that as long as he was willing to pay his parking tickets that he could keep on breaking parking laws...arrogant. Note: former mayor.

Oh my goodness that is terrible. I work at Walmart in East Meadow, NY and all of the recalled food was immediately pulled from the shelves by our store manager!!! I remmber pulling all the recalled cat food off the shelves when Jim my csm told me to do it. I'm just hoping that noone's cat gets sick, cuz I know that if my babies ate that food and got really sick there would be a huge price to pay. Talk about the almighty dollar, it makes me sick to my stomach to even think about how selish some poeple can be

I went to my local wal-mart (I live in central NY state) and they have the specia kitty pouches with new stickers over the old labels.
I believe Wal-Mart is claiming that they are just using up old packaging, and that may be, but I think it it the wrong thing to do.
I think it is poor ppublic relations and irresponsible too. It will give other unscrupulous businesses that still have recalled food lying around the idea to try the same thing. And I wouldn't put it past wal-mart to slip in a few old recalled food pouches here and there.
Go to the pet food aisle and check the special kitty pouches,. I bet you will find that the UPC sticker lifts right off. underneath is the old UPC. Scan it a the register and you will see that it is indeed recalled UPC code.
So, IMO even if it is only the packaging they are using, it is an unehtical thing to do. Scamming the consumer.
I'm not a big wal-mart fan and I'm sure they can afford to throw away a ton of old packaging for the sake of reputation and consumer safety.
I've contacted my local newspaper about this in the hopes that they will investigate MY local wal-mart but have not heard back from them.
Wal-mart came into my small town and built a super store and kept their prices competitively low until all other discount department stores were driven out. K mart and Ames and the small private stores are all gone. We have nothing BUT wal-mart now, meaning no choice of where to shop and guess what their prices aren't any better than, and in some instances HIGHER than shopping at the grocery store.
This is a rural poor commuity and many people don't comarison shop, they depend on Wal-mart to give them the best deals. I do comparison shop, and the only thing that is less expensive at wal-mart super center (grocery section I mean)that I buy is cat litter. Even their back to school stuff is not less expensive than say...rite aid. But many people don't realize that.
They claimed they were bringing all these jobs to the area, but what aobut all the jobs they eliminated when k-Mart and Ames and the smaller stores went out of business.
Oh well I could go on and on.

i dont know why people just dont follow my theory that wal mart sucks all around. i try but i just cant find one good quality about that store. theyre discriminatory towards workers, theyre racist, they take all the local business away and theyre products were made by some 4 yr old in a sweat shop in thailand. grrrrr

I'm not siding with Wal-Mart by any means...but...
theyre discriminatory towards workers
True. I agree. I had some friends that used to work there.
theyre racist
I don't agree here. Got any proof to back you up? Wal-Mart hires anybody that no one else will, regardless of race, weight, sex, sexual preference, mental health, etc.
theyre products were made by some 4 yr old in a sweat shop in thailand.
...and I don't agree here. Wal-Mart sells Lord knows everything. Some of what isn't made by children overseas, and besides...what doesn't come from China, Japan, etc.?
