I know I haven't been on here in ages, but I just feel so guilty I had to get it off my chest.
Got a dog in last Monday, and she looked a bit swollen, and I said she's probably just been in season or just coming into. She got reserved the next day, so they sent her for spaying yesterday.
When they opened her up they discovered that she was pregnant, about half way, and so therefore the pups would have had heartbeats, been proper alive.
If the anesthetic didn't kill them, they will have had to put them to sleep.
And it's all my fault. Why didn't I think that she could have been pregnant?! Why didn't I say something to someone... And now not only have the pups lost their lives, but that poor dog is going to know too.

...about half-way? The doctor should have palpated...if she looked pregnant, and she wasn't spayed...it's just common sense to palpate.

Regardless, everything happens for a reason. Did you really need 10 puppies? Can you afford puppies? Is the mother healty enough for puppies? Does the world really need those puppies? I know they are tough questions, but things that you can consider.

...you did the right thing by spaying her, don't feel rotten. Noone knew, and it definitely isn't your fault. So, don't take the blame.

that is a very sad thing to happen. I would have felt awful too but its not your fault. Everything happens for a reason.

I know we don't need more unwanted dogs in the world, but it's not the puppies' fault. What did they ever do? They should have had a chance at life...
And Mandy would have liked some more puppies. We only have 7 at the moment, only 3 at the beginning of last week, which I suppose is a good thing, but when that's all she has to do all day...
She didn't look pregnant, but she was very matted which I suppose was hiding the bulge. Poor lass
