lovebird eggs not hatching

My Mom has a breeding pair and everytime they lay eggs most do not make it. We have had two make it out of four clutches. the first few times the shell colapsed in as the baby's started to hatch. My mom has the birds on eggcite and they seem to be doing better in that respect however the babys arre still not making it. they seem to be forming and then die shortly before the are due to hatch. does anyone have any idea what is happening? any recommendations? your advice would be very much appreciated

I've always heard that store bought birds (from Petco/Petsmart and other Franchise-Pet Stores) are generally sterile. Meaning, they can lay eggs, but they'll never hatch.

Where did you get your birds?
