I am new here but in need of help badly. I have been searching for answers ALL day and will take any suggestions.

My 1 year old Bassett Hound has been throwing up everything the last 24 hours. Every weekend we give him either chicken or steak and this weekend it was steak as a treat. However, last night he started throwing up bile and has not stopped. He threw up 4 times last night, all yellow and foamy however, no solid food. This morning we fed him a small regular breakfast which he quickly therw up. Over the course of the day he has thrown up at least 10 times, all bile. He will not drink any water but still has as much energy as normal. I read to feed him boiled chicken, which we did for dinner and he threw that up within 15 minutes.

I think that he might have some kind of food poisoning from the steak we gave him.

Does anyone have ANY suggestions about what I can feed him to help settle his stomach. I can tell he is hungry, he always is, but I hate to see him in this condition. I sincerely appreciate any and all replys on this topic!

Thank you in advance.

Boil some plain white rice. Make sure that it cools. See if you can get him to drink the water that it was cooked in. Get him to the vet first thing in the morning.

if he isnt drinking any fluid, and is constantly throwing up, he can become severely dehydrated, extremely fast.

i would get him to a vet ASAP.

Sounds like a pretty good stomach ache. My neighbor has bassetts and she can't give them ANYTHING besides their own food. She said that bassetts in general have VERY weak stomachs. I would just quit feeding him for a day and see what happens, unless you really think he needs to go to the vet now. If he hasn't stopped in a day or two then I would take him in to get it checked out. Is he showing any other symptoms besides the throwing up?:)

Thank you to the three kind people who responded. The poor little guy did not throw up at all last night and I fed him some white rice this morning, as suggested. He has not thrown that up...yet. Once again, thank you!
