The obvious answer is to keep things you do not want him to chew where he can not get to them. Make sure that he always has things that he is allowed to chew.

he gets them down or shreds puppy pads
and he has his own toys

at 12 week old, he is teething and will chew on EVERYTHING he can get his teeth on!

make sure to puppy proof the house...those cords are very tempting (and can be very expensive to replace!) shoes, base molding...and yes...even paper.

Make sure to pick up everything and supervise him...if he cant be supervise, crate him.

Some things that can help relieve the pain are: old wet socks, wetted and frozen, ice cubes, a nice raw frozen bone, "teething" rings, puppy kongs, etc.

by the way...you need to teach him what's "okay" to chew on and what's not, so when you he gets older, he doesnt become one of those dogs that make the rule: if it's in my mouth, it's mine and i'm chewing it up!

ie. if he chews on something that doesnt belong to him, just say "uh uh!" and give him a toy that is his and make a HUGE fuss about how interesting HIS toy is!! Reward him when he goes for his toy by playing with him!

Sounds like you have a totally normal, healthy puppy. They will chew everything!! Like the above posters said you need to keep EVERYTHING that you don't want chewed out of his reach. Give him plenty to chew on. Frozen carrots are good. The big carrots, not baby.:)
