This is a picture of an Indian Ringneck I had rescued from an older couple who let their grandchilden torment and poke at her and who knows what else. Consequently, she became very agressive and defensive and they were gonna give her away to the first person who would take her. She used to cower when I walked in the room and tap her foot in fear. Now almost a year later, she gets excited when I come in the room, she races, she fetches and rings the bell on command and loves to play tug of war! At night-night time, I put a blanket over her cage and she pulls it down from my hand to finish covering her cage. She will step-up, but I cannot leave her cage area or leave the room with her, or she will go back to not trusting me for a week or so. So now, I have a seat next to her cage and she comes out and crawls all over me. I love her so much! I'm so glad I was the first one who came along. Who know's where this little bluebird of happiness would have ended up?

That's wonderful that you were able to rescue her and make her more secure and happy. I had a bird with issues once that was so nice and calm, until someone came into our home and picked on her. She wasn't the same since. :( But she did die a happy bird. I'm always thrilled to see stories like yours. :)
