Hi,
My cat Cricket will be 4 in April. We've had her since she was about 6 weeks old & she's spayed & declawed. She has always eaten dry cat food (except for some table scraps) & never caused us any litter box problems until recently. We noticed her licking herself & then discovered she had urinated in the bathtub. I know that's better than on the carpet, but I think she's doing that, too. When she urinates, it's just a very small amount.

We are keeping our daughter's pets, a cat & a dog. Cricket doesn't get along with the cat, who's pretty old, but likes the dog. Both cats share a self-feeder, water dishes & litter box. If this were a jealousy issue, I'd think it would have started earlier. The "guest pets" have been here since last September.

Is this a health problem & should I take her to a vet or is there a simple solution than I can do myself?

Thanks.

I would definately take her to the vet! Small amounts and licking suggest a possible bladder infection.

It seems when it hurts to pee, cats blame the box and try something else.

Let us know!

I would agree with the vet visit. Rule out a urinary tract infection before you try any behavioral modifications.

Same here, a trip to the Vet wouldn't hurt. :(

Thanks, everybody. I'll get her checked for urinary tract infection.

Hi Cyndy and welcome :)

Unfortunately, it sounds like a urinary tract infection to me too. Please let us know what the vet says... and good luck.
