Hi Evey,
Again, I'm so sorry about Nimbus. I remember seeing those pics and thinking how beautiful he kept himself, especially for a cat that was a stray when you found him. He definately looked like he had a great attitude! I know you will miss him.

Nimbus was sure a beautiful guy! He looks so contented and relaxed in his pictures. I am so sorry for your loss Evey. As you say it is so hard when they are so young. I was wondering if your vet ever said anything about Nimbus possibly being deaf. Don't know if it is true or not but I had always heard that all white cats have a tendency to be so.

I have known a few deaf white kitties, but Nimbus was not one of them. He could hear you open the fridge from wherever he happened to be. Having to fend for himself made him quite the chow hound. He heard cereal boxes, the toaster, pop tart sleeves, the ding of the microwave......

He also was getting really good at coming when called.

I don't know if the hearing loss that white cats are prone to is something they are born with or something that develops. I know he heard a whole lot better after we had his ears cleaned.

Generally, white kitties with blue eyes are deaf. Like, white Boxers, for instance. Generally something they're born with. However, Catillac (looks a lot like Nimbus, but she has longer hair) has yellows eyes. I kind of wish she had blue one's because they're so pretty...but, she can hear for miles! Just like Nimbus, when I rustle a cheese wrapper or open the treat pantry or open cans of food, all I hear is "Meow. Meow. Meow. MEEEEEEEOWWWW!"

I'm sorry for your loss, I'm sure he was an awesome kitty!
