mzd,
we found our rattie yesterday and named her...Valentine! Bought a new duplex cage for when the girls can be in one place together...I think that your rats are very lucky. What a thoughtful mom to make them homemade treats!
Val is shy, but sweet. She wants Lily to bond with her immediately, but Lily has been top rat and wants to stay that way. I put them together briefly and at first they just sniffed, then Val tried to jump on Lily for a cuddle and she wanted nothing to do with it. After a couple of angry squeaks, I grabbed Val. I know it takes time, I just can't wait to do a little remodeling in their house and have them be happy campers. They both got a peanut and some red and white paper for v-day. Lily rolled herself up in it and fell asleep. Val tore some off, then ran back and forth under the paper. So funny!
Hope you and your ratties are doing fine!

That's great that you got a new rat for Valentine's day. Better then a box of chocolates any day! It's always fun trying to come up with new stuff to put in and do to their houses. Anytime I go shopping, I've always got my eye out for something I can use for my rats, birds etc. I swear I spend more time looking at things for them than I do for myself or human family. The same goes for food. When I'm at the grocery store, I always come away with more food for the critters than I do myself. I especially go crazy in the baby food department. My sugar gliders and rats and my lorikeet absolutely love it and there is such a variety of flavors. I don't really like to cook and will nuke something for me or just go get it somewhere else. But when it comes to the pet babies, I will cook stuff for them in a heart beat.

LOL Mzdolittle! We've had more food in the house for the pets than we've had for ourselves, so I can relate to what you've mentioned.

Redsox, I love the names Val and Lil. They also sound like lucky ratties to me.
