The best food I've been able to find in my area for my new 6 week old kitten(that I can afford right now) is Maxximum Nutrition Chicken & Rice Formula For Growing Kittens.

I know the general consensus is that Wal-Mart brands are rubbish, but out of everything on the shelves this definitely seemed the best choice. And believe me...I looked at every ingredient list in the place.

On the front of the bag it says "Free of Animal By-products, Artificial Colors, Flavors & Preservatives"

The first six ingredients are: Chicken, chicken meal, corn gluten meal, poultry fat preserved with mixed tocopherols (form of vitamin E), brewers rice, ground wheat

So, what I really want to know is...is this actually a BAD food? Or are some of the negative reviews just based on the fact that there are BETTER foods?

I wouldn't feed it to my cat.

Corn gluten meal? Rice & Wheat are fillers. The poultry fat is sprayed on to make it smell better to a cat.

If that was the best thing on the shelf you are not shopping in the right place.
