Hi, I don't suscribe to many forums so this is a little strange to me! I have 5 dogs, 6 cats, and 3 rats. I can't forget my 3 two legged "pets!" Glad to be here, It's nice to have others to communicate with who share my enthusiasm for animals!

Welcome Heather! There are a lot of fun people here who have a "multi-pet" home ... and we're all proud to be owned by them! :D

Thank you all so much for the warm welcoming!!
Too crazy; I see you are from Michigan, may I ask what part?
Squawksx3; I used to have 2 of my dogs in search and rescue training. The instructor was a nut so I dropped out. That was a year ago and I sort of regret it when I think how far along my dogs would be. The trainer was very hard to be around (if your a human)! Do you have anybody certified??

I am soooo sorry Squawksx3, you are in the business of rescuing dogs, NOT search and rescue!! I feel really silly. I too have rescued a few but couldn't seem to part with them. Now I have 5 and they are all over 60lbs!!!
Sorry about the mix up. Do you do this out of your home or do you work with a local shelter? I was reading some past posts on complaints about animal control and it really is distrubing. My dream when I finish school, is to get a great paying job and be able to help out a local no-kill shelter. We have a few new ones popping up around here. I would just love contributing to something like that.

Heather~ I'm in North Branch, the lower part of the thumb area. I Grew up on the Warren/St. Heights boarder. Did you used to live in Michigan? I used to live in IL. 16 years ago. I lived up by the airport though in Mt. Prospect. I see you are further down.

Welcome heather 120. Don't pay any attention to the above - just a little joke between the three of us. Looking forward to hearing more about you and your pets. Please post pics if you can.

I did get one or two in before her. I can't get on in the evenings to much because the kids are on so thats when she sneaks in. But if you follow behind her, you better watch out. She welcomes people using their wrong names and if you follow her you may use the wrong name too. That's what happened to me and thats why I have try towelcome them first now!:D

LMAO!.... I call 'too's kids and find out when they will be on the puter and then I sneak on so I can beat her welcoming our new friends!. You watch, I'll make her slip up again and say the wrong name.. she's had quite a few blonde moments lately, so it shouldn't be hard :D.
Heather... thats ok... sis has gotten me confused on alot of things lately, I'm sure its rubbing off on others LOL. Thats so wonderful you were involved in search and rescue!. I'm involved with a private, non profit 501C3 dog rescue. Our animal shelter is not rescue friendly, so I dont think they'd let me volunteer. We pull dogs from the shelter and take in owner turn ins... the coordinator keeps them all at her house except for the ones I foster for her. She specializes in Siberian Huskies and Shiba Inu's, but takes in all breeds. She has limited space, so she tries to stay with the small breeds... I will foster any large breed for her if an emergency comes up. I've fostered Great Danes, Rottweilers, Labs, German Shepherds, etc... we take the dogs to Petsmart every saturday for adoption day and try to find forever, loving homes for them. We also have a website and anyone can call anytime if they're interested in one of our dogs. It can be heartbreaking sometimes, as you cant save them all.. but also very rewarding for the ones you do save and end up in wonderful homes. Many of the people who adopt will bring them by months later for us to see how happy and healthy the dogs are now.. and thank us for helping these wonderful little souls..its awesome!. Good luck to you in achieving your dream... you wont be sorry getting involved ;).
