Labored breathing/gagging

My Jack Russell Terrier started having labored breathing with gagging . He acts as he is going to vomit but doesnt.. he did however 2 days ago gag up a mucous like substance that was white/red (like blood). Took him to the vet and she gave him clavomax. 125 mg. This was Thursday its saturday. Has anyone else had a pet to do this before? He has had 5 doses of medicine in him. He seems a little better but the breathing is still labored. He is 3 years old so he isnt an old dog.Also he doesnt have much of an appetite. He had a little stew beef meat which he loved and some water but that is it!::(

Did they take x-rays for possible obstructions or did they just prescribe the antibiotic?

What did the vet say? Sounds like a infection but it could have been caused by him breathing something hard into his lungs, like a gnat or bigger.

Did they do a cardiac exam?

Is he eating and drinking Ok?

Are bowel movements noral?
