My Cockatiel has a problem with pooping on the carpet. She comes out of her cage everyday and stands on top of it, and when she has to "do her business" she scoots over to the side of the cage and does it on the carpet.

I was wondering if there was anyway I could remove the poop from the carpet with household items? My mom's getting mad at me, so this is sort of ASAP. :D

If your tiel usually poops in the same place just put newspaper on the floor in that spot. Then pick up the paper at the end of the day.

For poop already on carpet just scrape up the hard stuff and then take cold water and rag to the spot it should come up.

theres also this GREAT stuff called Poop Off at petco/petsmart. It works AMAZING. it can come in a jub, a spray, whipes, and even a bottle with a brush for carpets. I use it for my sugar gliders (they like the throw food) and it works AMAZINGLY. Once you get it off the carpet, maybe you can get one of those clean plastic bath matts (it kinda looks better than news paper) and it will make it easier to clean up.

The bird does that because they do it in the wild when they are nesting and perching. Its just a way to keep poo out of their sleeping area/feet and legs. So they go over to where they think it will land away from their "home area" and hang their little butts over and go. If you ever see baby birds in a nest, you will see them doing it all the time. they scoot to the edge of the nest and hang their bums over the edge and go.
