This is an update in the lives of my family since the loss of our puppy Dakota to alleged Parvo (see the posting). I say alleged Parvo because we think that it could have been a false positive. It was a quickie test, and there were 5" long round worms coming out her mouth. They were no longer coming out the other way towards the end of her life.

We have since cleaned (thouroughly I might add) the house and yard with either Bleach/water, or ammonia/water or some parvo stuff we got through a vet distributor. I'm telling you, this house is cleaner than when we first moved in!

Yesterday, we got the latest edition to the family...his name is Lord Bogart d'longears...we call him Bogie for short. Did you guess he's a Basset Hound? Yes, he's AKC registered, or at least he should be by the end of the week.

I will send pics somethime this weekend. Feel free to email me directly at gardeninky@yahoo.com

I so sorry you lost Dakota - especially in that way. My heart goes out to you.

Good Luck with the new puppy. I hope you got this puppy from someplace different.

There is no way I would ever get another dog from that person that I got Dakota from! I bought Bogie from a breeder that also had the entire litter and both the parents on the property. I did not take him home the same day either. I paid for him the first day, then I came back twice to play with him (and check on him and the rest of the litter and parents). In the meantime, I cleaned the heck out of the house, preparing for his arrival. Then, I also called his veternarian she was taking him to for his shots (and his parents stuff) and had a long talk with them as well. We have decided to keep that vet as his regular vet. They are actually closer than the other vet we were using too, which is another benefit.

I feel so bad for Dakota. The breeder who allowed this to happen should be closed down. Did he/she stand good for Dakota's problems or help you out in any way? It is such a shame that there are irresponsible breeders out there. In the end it is the animal that suffers.

She is about to find out just how serious I was when I said I wanted a refund of the cost of the puppy. She said she would, but that was three weeks ago. I have not heard from her via phone, or mail. Needless to say, thank God we have Pre Paid Legal! They are now letting her know we want the cost of the puppy, plus the vet bill, plus the carpet cleaning costs. I hope she does get shut down. I SERIOUSLY HOPE THAT THIS DID NOT HAPPEN TO ANYONE ELSE!
