So, yesterday Chica was vomiting up a storm! I wouldn't say nonstop, but probably once every two hours. I took her into work with me this morning and one of the doctors did her exam and everything was okay. I then gave Chica a Reglan (anti-nausea) and a Pepcid (anti-acid) injection. Within 30 minutes, Chica was frenzied. She was panting uncontrollably, digging in the back corner or her kennel and going nuts! The doctor started reading up in our drug book, and said that it didn't say anything about being anxious. If anything, the dog should be sedated from the medicines, not frenzied. We'd never seen anything like it! It was so odd! She's doing better now, needless to say, no more Reglan/Pepcid for Chica anymore, but I was curious to know if anyone else has had this kind of reaction with these two drugs?!

I've never given my dogs those meds but it sounds like an allergic reaction.

I remember when I was a kid, I got anxious after taking Primatene Mist. It turned out to be an allergic reaction. I know the same thing can happen to animals.

I also haven't ever tried either on the dogs. But as Rich has experienced, I have had the same kind of reactions to taking certain things. I cannot take Nyquil, even the nighttime medicine. If I take it at night I stay up all night long and cannot sleep. It also makes me itchy.
So I guess the same thing can happen with our pets.

She's still being a little "different". : ( We're probably going to do bloodwork later today... she seems healthy, though. Eating, drinking, barking, etc. She just has this weird look about her, you know.
