Hello, I am extremely worried about one of my cats... i have 2. one is about a month older than the other, and that is the one i am worried about, the older cat. He gets bothered whenever I touch his belly,(gets mad, meows agressively and bites) and Ive never seen a cat not like it! because my OTHER younger cat LOVES it, and i always thought all cats liked that, so thats why i am worried...

Another thing that might give a clue, is that i KNOW they have worms... tapeworms... i am trying to do the most to buy the medicine but i am just so desperate to know FIRST what is the big problem with him. He weighs about 3 to 4.5 lbs!!! and my other younger cat weights 5 to 6.5 lbs! and he is NOT obese, its completely fine. The older cat (the one with the problem) is also very sad, he doesnt like to play anymore, he is an angry cat... but i dont understand... BOTH cats have tapeworms, but how come one of my cats is NORMAL, and the other acting strange? They both eat the same amount of food, but the older cat just doesnt seem to gain weight!

sorry to write too much, but i am REALLY worried! please help me with what you know!

Again, these are the things my cat has:

Tapeworms*
Is sad*
Doesnt like to play as much*
Gets angry and agressive when you touch his belly (as if it hurts)*
Eats as much as my younger cat which is 100% healthy but doesnt gain weight*

what is the problem? is it the tapeworms? but my other cat has them too and doesnt act strange!! but it seems he hates when i touch his belly... does something hurt in him?

PLEASE HELP ME! some say that if he is sad and angry when you do something to him, might be a symptom for rabies,

PLEASE HELP!

thank you so much!

Rabies is primarily a disease that attacks the nervous system, and is very fast moving from the time it's contracted to the time of death. You'd see a LOT more dramatic symptoms than a cat that reacts when his belly is touched, or who seems depressed.

More likely, your cat is sick from the worms and/or other internal parasites, and of course, this will have an effect on his disposition and energy! Is affording vet care a problem for you? Maybe you can work something out with your vet (odd jobs around the office, or some kind of payment plan, for instance).

Our pets rely on us not to second guess what might be wrong, but to seek professional medical care when they need it. Please don't delay. Your kitty needs to be seen by a vet, especially if he's eating and not maintaining his weight! This is a serious indicator that the worms are preventing him from absorbing the nutrients from his food. Eventually, this may happen to the other cat as well.

There are over-the-counter dewormers available in pet stores. I've never used them, perhaps someone else here on the forum could advise you about that as another option.

Please keep us posted on how things are going. And please get your cats vaccinated against rabies as soon as they regain their health (assuming they are going outdoors). Many rabies clinics are free.

If your cats have tapeworms, you probably do too. Please go see a doctor right away and get tested.

The best de-wormers come from the vet not from the store. Hopefully your vet can work out a payment plan.
