I'm sure you have all dealt with the mess that birds produce by throwing out the seeds and/or pellets that they dont want onto your freshly vacuumed floor. And I'm sure you all get frustrated with it as well! Well, so did I. Then, one day I was sitting down looking at the birds (while they were making a mess) and I thought to myself "how can I make it so they throw less mess on the floor?" I have tried the "seed catcher" things that go around the cage, but those dont work perfectly plus they make just as big of a mess when you take them off! So, I got to thinking and then it hit me! BIRD BATH. I went out and purchased a bird bath for my lovebirds, but I put food in it instead of water! It really did make MUCH less of a mess since they had to go INTO it to eat. Even if they do bring their food out of it, they're in the middle of the cage and they have already picked out the seed/pellet they wanted and so they eat it instead of throwing it. It also helped because my female lovebird likes to dig in the pellets. It's funny, she looks like a miniature chicken!

Anyway, you might want to give it a try if you already havn't!

What kind of birdbath are you talking about? I can't quite figure it out and I'm all for anything that helps in cleaning!!!!

Click this link and you can see what I was using. I think I had a different brand but it shouldn't really matter. I just set mine in the cage instead of hanging it.

i saw an ad in the back one of the bird magazines (i'm not sure which one). They were selling a box big enough for a bird and it's made of clear heavy duty plastic and you're supposed to feed your bird inside that box in order to eliminate the mess. I have to go back to the book store and look again and i will post the name of that item. but the bird bath is definitely a great idea especially if you're on a budget...

Do you mean the Bird Manger? The ad has been in Bird Talk for some time. The site is BirdManager.org, there is also BirdManager.com They both seem kinda the same?

Omg.. that is genius! I should try to find one when I go to petland today.. Aleda also likes getting into her bowl and kicking around like a chicken haha, I'm not worried about the mess, but she WASTES sooo much food when she does this, cuz it lands on the bottom of her cage and its not like I'm going to feed her pellets with poo on them!
