What should i do? If the pup doesn't listen, he should NOT be off lead or you will end up having him injured, running away or worse case scenerio killed by a car. Get a 15 ft long lead and train him on it. Use high value treats like liver and try to find a toy he is interested in. You may also want to try using a clicker. after the 15 ft lead when commands are masetered go to a 20 than 30 up to a 50 ft lead . After that you may or may not be able to try off lead but only in a fenced area. No dog in my opinion should be totally running free especially when not trained or by roads
I agree w/ Patch. Your dog should not be off leash. Actually, I don't think ANY dog should be off leash at any time unless in a fenced in area, of course.:)

I agree with the above posters. No dog should be off the leash (unless fenced in). Especially a pit...too many stories of people overreacting with a loose pit and the pit getting shot.
Follow Patch's advice for the training and you'll be good to go.

Our Husky never goes off leash because he just runs and doesnt listen either so instead of taking any chances of him getting hit by a car, he stays on leash. Took my husband 4 hours once to track him down one night cause he took off the leash just as they were entering the house after a walk.:D I kept telling him dont let him off leash. Lesson learned!
