hi all,

i'm amy and i'm new to this cool community of animal lovers, just like myself.
Anyway, i have a bit of a problem with my gorgeous Pugalier (pug- cross -cavalier king charles spaniel) dog, he's a little bit overweight, i admit, actually- quite fat really. He's about 45cm high and weighs about 14 kilos. The vet has told us that he is overweight and that his weight should be reduced.

I try and try but he just stays the same, it's hard work and i don't want to put his health at risk but loosing weight for Benji (the dog), seems impossible!!!

I know he's a bit overweight but i think he's fine and healthy and he exercises ALOT!! he's very energetic and he eats normal amounts. i think it's just his pug sort of build but i don't want to tell the vet this because- well a vet is a vet!!! they are experts..... i don't know what to do and i don't know what's best for Benji........ :(

love amy

You might try feeding less than the suggested amount or switch to a weight control food.

What are you feeding him?

I'm not familiar with the things you talked about. Are biscuits something special in Australia?
One thing you don't want to do is compromise good nutrition for weight loss.
The food I sell, which is not available where you are, has a higher protein, lower fat content. I can tell you from my client feedback that all my clients dogs have done extremely well with weight loss, yet are still getting the best nutrition available. Again, here in the U.S. there are alot of weight loss formulas out there that are pretty bad quality foods, low protein, etc. The dog loses weight but is hungry all the time and the coat starts showing signs of bad nutrition. If you look at the weight loss formula on my website it will give you a good guideline of what you may want to look for in your country.
Good luck.
