Both rats are male, and are brothers.

This is Gary. He is the friendlier one out of the two.

And this is Taz. He's a "moody" one ... sometimes he wants to be out of the cage, and at other times he just wants to be left alone.

Ooopppsss, almost forgot this picture. Here you can really see how big Gary is. Gary & Taz were so small when we got them (just before Christmas) and each one could easily fit into the palm of my hand. I can't believe how fast they grow.

Yeah dude, they're pretty big right now and they're only 16-weeks old. From what I've read about them, they are suppose to get even bigger. I read on someone's website that her rats are around 3-lbs each.

Gary & Taz are part of my son's Christmas present. He wanted rats and I couldn't think of a good reason for him not to have one, so now we've got two. Anyway, they're really fun (but shhh, don't tell my son I said that).;)

Awwww Amada, they're sooooo cute, and so is your son! I have to say that I have a particular fondness for the hooded rats like Taz but I love them all.

Amanda they are so cute! Gary looks like he's smiling in the first pic! And I agree your son is cute as well! We babysat my daughters friends rats a few years ago. They were really cool little buggers.:D

Thanks for the compliments guys! :)

Barb, I like the hooded ones like Taz too. They have so many of them at the store and Gary was the only albino. My son wanted an albino and we were just going to buy him, but then the saleslady said that rats are very social animals and they would get lonely if they were alone. She recommended that we buy atleast 2 ... so we got Taz as well. Taz is a bit "moody" though. There will be times when he loves to interact with us, and other times he will try and bite us if we mess with him. Gary on the other hand is super friendly and loves to be with my son. He can spend hours sitting on my son's shoulder while my son does his homework, watch TV or play Xbox. They look so cute together because Gary seem to be so interested in whatever my son is doing (his little pink nose twitching non-stop and trying to smell whatever my son is doing).

Sherry, I just looked at the first picture .... you're right, Gary looks like he's smiling. :D I never thought I would say that rats are cool ... but they really are. I've learned something new about rats since having Gary & Taz become part of our family.

P.S. My son just asked me how many people have looked at Gary & Taz's pictures ... so I showed him the thread. He looked so embarrased with all the compliments .... he's so cute ... he he.
