Hello, my name is Nicole and This is my first time in this forum. I have a question for a golden expert. I went to look at some puppys today , the seller claims the pups are akc ready... i saw the mother and father they are both dark, i picked the one i like and i took some photos of her and put a deposit down on the pup , I have to wait 2 weeks to pick her up. In the meantime i wanted someone with more golden experience to take a look at her pics and tell me if she look like a true golden. I just dont want to make a mistake or perhaps be fooled . anyone who may be able to help?

I'm not an expert so don't go by what I think but she looks like one! And she's so darn cute I would probably end up getting her just because of that!!:D

Well, she's cute!!! From what I know of Golden Retriever pups, she looks like one to me. There's another person here who has golden retrievers, I think her name is 2cutepups? Or something like that. She posted pics of her dogs in the pictures section. Her dogs are darker than golden retrievers usually are, but I thought that the darker color was very pretty. Anyway, if you've seen the parents' papers, you probably don't have to worry about the puppy being a golden retriever and as the puppy gets older, you'll probably be happy that you have a different-looking golden retriever!

Hi,
I thave had two golden retrievers. The first lived to be 14 yrs old. I got her from a humane society - the pups were dumped in a park, probably because they had hip displaysia. No, papers for her but she was the bestest dog in the whole world. Amber is with us now and she is registered AKC and I believe when we picked her up we were given paperwork to send in to register her. Check with the seller and find out how they will have you go about registering your puppy. I have found that goldens come in many shades. The first puppy I saw when searching for Amber over 5 yrs ago was actually a dark red and looked more like a Irish Setter then a retriever to me. Since then I have seen retrievers that are almost whitish tan in color. Then there is the gold color and there is a more reddish gold. From what I have found the really dark colored one I saw could have been a retriever. So, it is up to individual choice what you are looking for in a "golden".

The one you chose looks adorable and I wish you luck. However, you won't need much luck as this breed of dog is very smart and eager to please.

Looks like a Golden to me Nicole :D. Unfortunately, its very easy to register a litter for AKC papers. I know of some people that had a registered Golden and she had a litter of pups ... the dad was a traveling salesman. According to AKC rules , if your dog has a litter of mixed breed pups... you must have three litters of purebreds after that before you can paper anymore litters from the mom... well these people hid the mixed breed pups and "got rid" of them ASAP.... the next litter was purebred..they papered them and sold them for alot of money.
Do you want this pup for a pet, or are you planning on breeding/showing?. It sure is a cutie patootie!!. Good luck.
