Just wondering if anyone else has a lovebird out there and if it is normal to make a clicking sound with his beak from time to time, when he does do it, he does it while I hold him, and its a fast movement of his beak while hes hanging out and cleaning himself while sitting on me.

... also, i notice that sometimes he makes a random "squeak", sometimes it seems like he does it when hes covered up at night or in the morning when i havent uncovered him yet...

(he's almost 5 now)

I can tell you now.. both normal.

How about I tell you what the sounds mean too! :D

The rapid clicking accompanied by face-scratching and sometimes 'dancing' is a hormonal courting behavior. He loves you. Very much! Just be glad he's not deciding to masturbate on you as well.. because that is something they will do shamelessly.

The random squeak is probably just like you or me rolling over in the middle of the night. He's shifting, getting comfy maybe. Unless you're wondering what the particular sound might mean, I'd have to hear it. They make so many kinds of squeaks. :)

My Oliver does that too. I'll walk up to him and he fluffs up real big, shakes his tail and clicks his beak a bit. He's just really excited to see me. ^^
