my poor, poor cockateil is attacking himself (as in, plucking himself to death!!!!!!) We give him lots of attention and a big perch and a big cage!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's wrong with him??????????????????????????????

Take him to the vet asap. Perhaps he has some sort of skin infection/mite. I'm not sure. Is there another bird in the cage? The other bird may be plucking him.

Just.. take him to the vet for sure. If you tell us more about the situation we can probably help you more :)

Take him to the vet right away. Maybe he has mites or fleas or just very dry skin? Let me know what happens. I'm concerned for you.

Well I have to say, that only if you are bringing your birds outside they will have mites.maybe if you have other birds in the cage they could have them if they have been outside. But birds don't usually get mites unless they are outside often. What I mean is they don't grow them or anything like that. Very rare to have flies. I would have to say dry skin and stress? Have you reciently had a change with him? Like perhaps a new room? I hope he will be okay? Let us know.Also do you bath your birds often? when summer is here they love to be misted with a spray bottle, and it sure helps with dry skin. Maybe try misting him every other day if you haven't tried this method. Hope he is alright. Gail
