To Whom It May Concern:
My name is Karin Willis, I am writing to you as my last resort and I am hoping you will be able to help me.
I came to the United States a year and half ago after I met and married an American guy back in Israel. We soon moved to Tulsa Oklahoma where I faced a very difficult, abusive marriage which eventually drove me out of my home, leaving me stranded with nothing.
When I came to America I brought two Pekinese dogs (Sendy (9) and Jony (6)) these dogs are most important to me because they were a gift from my father when I was young. Today my father is very ill with cancer and my dogs are the really a sentimental last memory I have of him.
Back when I decided to leave my abusive relationship my ex promised to send me my dogs however I found myself begging him to do so for seven months since he found it as a last means to keep me hurting. I recently found out that his brother gave my dogs to a shelter in Oklahoma – without my knowledge or consent – and they were picked up by a woman approximately three months ago.
I contacted the lady and tried to explain to her my situation hoping she would understand that the dogs are mine, what I’ve been through and that they were put in shelter without me knowing, however the lady hired a lawyer and refuses to return my dogs to me.
I am pleading with you, as I do not know where else to turn, to please help me get my dogs back. Sendy is already ten years old and Jony has only one eye after he got into a fight with another dog. All I am asking is that my dogs spend the rest of their lives with the person they started it with – they are like my children.
I do not have any one else in this country and hindered by the language barrier I find myself unable to effectively fight for my dogs and bring them back to me. Right now this is the most important thing in my life, second only to my dying father which also hurts to learn of this injustice.
I turn to you in hope that you have the power to help me, to speak to this lady and or the lawyer to persuade them and help my family. Maybe they will be willing to listen to you – someone with power. I pray that someone will listen to my prayer and help me.
Thank you for your time and all your help,
Karin Willis
