My 8 month old puppy has been sick since monday. He vomited while I was at work and a couple times after I came home he had no interest in eating at all. So I took him into the emergancy vet. They gave him shots of fuild to keep him hydrated and pepcid ac. They said if he wasen't eating but morning to get him into the vet. Well he was eating in the morning but still vomiting. I tryed giving him a bland diet scrambled eggs (he didnt like) and then later in the day I gave him about a cup of ground beef cooked over the stove. I took him back to the vet Wednesday morning x-rays where done nothing showed up. The vet said he could have been feed too much too soon and the ground beef was probably too greasy. He has been given two medications to keep his food down and prevent dirrhea. Also I was told to give him Pepcid AC once a day. I gave him one dose last nite. He was doing great untell midnite when he vomited again. I have only been feeding him I/D bland food. Should I take him back in ?
He is very active and alert hasen't skiped a beat during all of this. . . just contining to vomit but only once a day usually around midnite. he is up to date on all of this shots. I am thinking about just giving him another 24 hrs and if still hasent stoped vomiting then i will take him back in ?

Is the pup having normal bowel movements? Is any food and water staying down?? Don't keep switching around the food
Try giving some chicken chop meat with the grease drained and rice only about a 1/2 cup a couple of times a day or even smaller amount if this is a small breed dog.
What meds did they give?
Was metronitozol (sp?) one of them?
It may possibly be a virus or something he ate working it's way through the system, did they check for parasites?? Those three things are just a few of the things it could be

he did have some dirrehea but his last one was loose but not full out dirrehea. his food and water has been staying down up untell midnite for the past two nites. i've heard about trying to give him chicken but the vet told me to keep him on the bland i/d diet. he is a small breed pom/chiuchua mix.
both the meds that where given started with an m i think the one you mentioned is one. they also told me to give him pepcid ac one a day.
i'm hoping to get them a stool sample by tomorrow so they can check for parisites.
thanks for your reply . . . any additional info or recommendations you could give me will be greatly appreiated thanks !

Could your puppy have ate something that he should'nt have? Maybe chewed a piece of clothing or toy, or gotten into something outside? Has anything in the house changed lately, food, have you sprayed anything different in the house? I'm just trying to come up with ideas, I hope you pup is o.k. and starts feeling better. Keep us posted.

im sure its possible that he could have gotten into something but nothing seems out of place nothing new has happened at all. I'm hoping he just has a virus that his system can work through. Or he got into something that he shouldnt have with out me knowing that isnt serious. he had x-rays and nothing came up that would be causing a blockage. i'm still so confused i'm hoping to come home tonite and feed him his bland diet and hopfully i wont wake up to him vomiting again at midnite like he has been for the past two nites. If anyone thinks of anything else please let me know. If he vomits again tonight i will be calling the vet in the morning and maybe get him in for blood tests if the vet thinks it would be a good idea.

Ask the vet about also checking for giardia
http://www.cdc.gov/Ncidod/dpd/parasites/giardiasis/factsht_giardia.htm
the food the vet gave you is expensive and also is not as bland as chicken and rice IMO. It is up to you though as to what you try. If the food from the vet isn't working though I would try something else

Changes in a dog's diet can result in a week or two of digestive upsets. I'd pick one food and stick with it to rule out food as the culprit.
Chihuahua and Chi mixes are well known for low blood sugar issues although it is more common in younger dogs. Low blood sugar has the symptom of causing nausea and vomiting. Based only on the breed mix, if it is vomiting and has not eaten in the past 3 or 4 hours, I'd start by trying to feed it. Discuss symptoms of low blood sugar with your Vet., just in case.

Never heard of the scrambled eggs thing... but what I did when my dog got sick and was throwing up... he had pancretitas... the vet had me give him 1/2 cup of hamburger, WIPE ALL THE GREASE OFF WITH PAPERS TOWELS!! and then 2 cups of rice to that... I have a large dog about 115 lbs, so you would need to cut down the serving as to the size of your puppy. The rice is the most important thing. It is very easy to digest. They also had me give the pepcid AC as well. If your puppy is not better soon I would get back in to your regular vet and see what they say.
