It's one of his favorite things. He loves going and is always very relaxed. I've been bringing him for about a year and a half now. He gets the acupuncture with the electro stimuli and it really helps.

He absolutely loves it! As soon as I tell him we are going to acupuncture he's right at the door waiting for me. For anyone considering acupunture, but just aren't sure if it will hurt, you can clearly see how relaxed and at peace he is. Between the acupuncture and a good muscle/joint supplement I have been able to drastically reduce the amount of prescription meds he gets, which are bad for the liver.

That's amazing. I'm glad it works for him and you were able to reduce the prescription medication. I tried acupuncture many years ago for my migraines. Unfortunately, it didn't help me, but I remember the strange feeling as the needles went in to the "special" spots and I think it's great that a dog would lie still for that. It wasn't painful, just strange. I guess he knows the relief that's coming.

Thanks! Yes it does help. Whenever he is coming close to his next appt. I can definately tell. They like him to stay fairly quiet for the rest of the day after he receives it (not always easy with Koda egging him on all day). But the difference the day after is absolutely remarkable. He's almost puppyish.

Accupuncture & chinese herbs (and LOTS of PRAYER!) just CURED my 21 year old daughter of gallstones (within 6 months, after all the doctors insisted her gallbladder be removed right away). The stones (and attacks) are literally GONE. I'm a BIG believer and I wouldn't hesitate to use accupuncture on any of my pets for whatever ails them.
He looks like he's enjoying his treatment! Glad it's working out so well for him. :)
As an animal massage therapist, I see dogs that could not stand to be touched just melt for massage. The difference is incredible.
I have never had a dog get acupuncture, but I did have a horse that got it to control epilepsy. He never flinched under the needles.
What condition does Dubby have?

Yes, I agree. They've also taught me some massage techinques that he just loves.
He has one mildly dysplastic hip. Had I not had his OFA's done after he finished showing, when he was 2, it's something that would not have been noticed, as he didn't show any signs of off movement or discomfort until last year, when he was just a little over 7. Had him re-xrayed last year and he has arthritis in all his leg joints. Last year he started not putting much weight on the rear right leg which started causing some atrophy to set in. Besides the acupuncture and joint/muscle supplement we do short walks uphill, which forces him to use the leg, wading in the water and walking on sand, to try to build up the muscle in that leg.
Also, since adding Koda to our family he has become puppy like again. They usually do play sessions at least a few times a day, which is wonderful for him. The average life span of Newfies is approx. 9-11 years (Im praying for many many more than that). He's in excellent health in all other respects, so if I can keep him well exercised and muscles well toned I think we will do pretty well! I'm so bonded with him that I just don't know if I will be able to handle it when his time comes.
Thanks for your response! :)
