Can i feed my lizard iceberg lettuce as i work at mcdonald's and they give me all the leftover salads that we would normally throw away at the end of the day. i keep picking out the greens i would normally feed to her, but, she keeps going for the iceberg.i was told that iceberg lettuce would kill them if they ate it. i try my best to hide it from her but she sees me throw it in the trash and she quite defiantly:D goes right to the trash to try and get it back out.normally i would let her eat whatever she wants including piping hot cheese pizza, which, by the way we have to order just for her every time we order pizza:p i love my little one very much and i could really use some feedback here.

I don't want to trash fast food chains or anything, but they don't serve the best food, especially when it comes to lettuce. That stuff has no nutritional value, will fill your iguana's belly (with mostly water) to the point where he won't eat anything else and could develop all kinds of nasty disorders.

Give your iguana a balanced diet of fruit and veggies, share a salad with him with occasional protein and tell him you love him.

I agree with B... we never feed our Iggy's iceburg lettuce... it doesn't even have any nutritional value for us humans, let alone animals. It probably wont hurt once in a great while, but I would try to stay away from it for your lizards health. We mostly feed Romaine lettuce as their main diet. There are good books out that tell you what fruits and veggies are healthy, and which ones are definate no-no's. Good luck and eat a Big Mac for me! :D.

Thanks for the feedback, this is my third lizard and i never fed any of them iceberg, they never "argued" with me over it though like Felicia does. She gets a diet of romaine, kiwi, mango, bananas, and a bunch of different veggies, she also occasionally wants scrambled eggs, tuna and piping hot cheese pizza. I know she is very happy as she loves to climb up on my head and sit for a while especially when i take her outside in the sunny warm weather. By the way she is 15 years old and weighs about 40 pounds. Yeah u heard that right 40 pounds and she is quite heavy when she sits on my head. She loves to get pets and tons and tons of kisses every day, cuddling up in my arms to watch t.v. every night is especially sweet;) as she loves to sit all cuddled up in my arms. Does yours do any of these things, people tell me that if they didn't know any different they would think she is a big lovable puppy and not a reptile.
