Cloudy lung x-ray in places, alongwith what he called donut looking white circles around her bronchial tubes.
She had been having a rattle for a few weeks. The vet at first attributed it to allergies as she wasnt running a temp. Then yesterday, when she was rattling, I patted her rib cage gently about 10 times, and after about a minute, she started coughing.
I took her in today, and he first said she had no fever and was about to attribute it again to allergy, but said he wanted to take x-rays. when the x-rays came back, her lungs looked like they had white splotches in places.
Said it looked like cancer. To rule out other possibilities (pulmonary, infection, etc., ) he did an ultrasound and ran blood work.
They came back normal. The bloodwork also showed her kidneys were functioning well. He said her protein level(?) was elevated. It normally is 3; hers is 7. She has not had any weight loss.
He gave her a diuretic and antibiotic in the chance that it is inflammation. He will x-ray her again in the morning.
He will aspirate her lungs tomorrow morning to run tests on the cells.
I am devastated.
Have any of you ever had similar symptoms in your cats?
I hope and pray her lungs are just inflamed. However, this vet has been an excellent diagnostician n the past.
