What table scraps do you reckon are better for the feline?
We usually give them some chicken breast cut up fine and I'm wondering if steak would be too hard for them to digest or what about some hamburger. Grease okay for them I guess?

We only treat them to our food once or twice a week.

I wouldn't let them have the grease if possible, 'cos fats are hard to digest, and too much will give them an upset tummy. I'd go for the chicken, 'cos it's bland, and shouldn't upset their digestion too much.

No table scraps are ok for kitty ... though they may not be posionous, they are fatty and icky for them. Kitties should be on a stable food so as not to mess with their tummys ...

Only if your doctor prescribes (in the case of extreme diarrhea or something)

Okay, well we give our cats treats of our cooked meat a couple of times a week and really I can't see where it would be any worse than some of that garbage I read on the labels of cans.

Thanks for the advise on the grease.

I'd have to say chicken is probably better for your cat, just like it is for you, and white meat if you can spare it (since it's leaner).

When comparing canned cat foods lately, I'm finding that beef varieties are higher in carbs (which aren't really good for cats in large quantities) than the canned chicken varieties. I wonder if that then means that beef has more carbs than chicken?

I know my cats have never begged for beef, but will stare at me endlessly when I am cutting up chicken... ;)

We never give our kitty cooked food, but when i prepaire a meal I always throw some raw scraps into his bowl as a treat (..ok..so a treat he gets every night..shush :D)
He loves raw beef with the fat cut off, or little bits of raw chicken. It's never a good idea to give them cooked food though, remember... kitties can't build fires!
