:o Please help! Have 4 month old golden retriever puppy who gets in moods to bite. Have given him every toy-chew-bone, tried the "ouch" method, no bite method...nothing helps. Any help out there? Suggestions? PLEASE, before I go crazy or the dog goes...:(

When my golden was a pup, she was, of course, MOUTHY.
When I used the "Ouch!" method, I really had to get dramatic and scream ouch, then turn my back on her. Withdrawing my attention entirely made more of an impression then just the ouch. I guess that was my *cause and effect* lol. I only withdrew for a moment or two, that's all she could comprehend.
Also I used substitution, when she went to grab me I inserted a soft chew toy.
Goldens are smart, they want to please. It didn't take her long to figure it out.
