Hi Everyone,
I'm live in Canada and have just gotten a Blue-Headed Pionus. He is my avatar. I have 4 dogs (Scottish Terrier, Lhasa Apso, Chinese Crested Powderpuff, and Miniature Pinscher), 3 cats (the oldest one being 19 years old -- and she's the Queen of the house!), 2 birds (Lovebird and BH Pionus) and my son has a Sudan-Plated Lizzard. We used to have 2 cockatiels, but the female (Sydney) died from laying too many eggs and her mate (Glasty) never got over losing her. We ended up having to rehome Glasty due to his constant screaming. He went to live with one of our friends who owns a house (no neighbors to complain).
I am currently a member of other bird forums and was just browsing the net when I stumbled across this one. Lucky me, because I just love to meet people with the same love for FIDS (or any other animal for that matter) as I do. So, I'm looking forward to sharing some stories with you all and reading about your pets/companions.
P.S. My avatar's name is Rio and he is only 14 weeks old.

Amanda: Welcome! So nice to meet new people, especially more Pionus Parrot owners. I love Pionus Parrots as well. I have Marcel, a Maximillians Pionus. He is not in my Avatar, that is a generic picture of a blue head. I am working on getting one of Marcel's pics small enough to have as an Avatar.
Rio sounds great.....have fun with him.
Again, welcome.:)

If you copy and paste your picture into paint then find image. Press stretch and skew. Then type in the box that says vertical type in 50. Find the box that says horizontal and type in 50.
Then you have an avatar of MArcel.

Thanks for the welcome. In my avatar, Rio is wearing his "flight suit" -- that's why he looks like he has a pink chest. His blue coloring (on his head) is not very big right now (not like the picture of Mrs. Birdy's avatar) because he is still very young. I'm going to post the link to Rio's pictures in the other forum (for photos).

Sophie has a feather teather bird harness. Does Rio like his flight suit?
Does he have the leash attachement?

Hi. Rio didn't like putting on his flight suit at first...he used to struggle a lot whenever I tried to put it on him. He doesn't seem to mind it at all now and doesn't even struggle when I put it on him. He used to nibble at it a lot, but I guess he's used to the feeling of the suit around his body now because he doesn't bother with it anymore.
I really like it because it serves a dual purpose...diaper and leash at the same time. Yes, I bought the leash that attaches to it as well. He doesn't seem to "poop" as much though (compared to my cockatiels who pooped so much all over the place) but I still like the idea that I don't have to worry about extra decorations on my shirt:p

Hi Gail. Thanks for the welcome. I consider myself very lucky for finding this board -- everyone seems to be so friendly. I love Senegals ... they are so cute and heard that they are so full of antics. Which one do you have, the yellow or orange breasted?
