Cool pictures! Thanks for sharing.
Um, I don't know much about spiders and I'm just curious if you keep all your tarantulas in one cage or will they fight with each other?

Thanks Amanda, tarantulas must be kept in a seperate cage as they will fight and kill each other. The only time we have them together is for breeding purposes and that is risk taking also as the female can get pretty mad and kill the male.. There are however a few tarantulas that can be housed together, mainly Pink Toes you can keep them with 2 females and one male or 3 females together but the cage must be large enough and also have plenty branches and fake plants for each one to have a hidding place of its own..
Thanks krazy4birds, i have been working with tarantulas and all sorts critters since i was about 6yrs old.. when i was little dad would always let me keep frogs, snakes, spiders, orphaned wild baby birds, chipmunks and all sorts critters.. Mom on the other hand did not alow me to keep such critters in the house so dad built a room in the garge and heated it so i could keep my critters out there, but mom never knew i snuck alot of critters in, glad she never found the loose garter snakes... LOL!!!!

Cuda, you're amazing. You really round us out here at Petlovers! I just showed my husband Mike the impressive pics and he mentioned that India doesn't have the hairs that can be irritating like the other ones. I'd like her the best too just for that, LOL.

Thats very good Love Bird B, your hubby is so very right, but what they lack in urticating hairs they make up for in venom, thats why we call these kinda T's hot pokies... This kinda T can put you in the hospital...

Does anyone else feel creepy crawly things on them? LOL Sorry Cuda but I draw the line at spiders. There are no beautiful ones! They are all scarey! I feel I should go shake my clothes out now!! (hope were still friends! ha ha ;) ) But I do have a question first: How can a spider be a good girl??

NP 'too crazy, very understandable, someday you will understand that spiders are not all what everyone makes them out to be, its the little tiny ones that do more damage then Tarantulas.. Anyways on to your Q, its a female and she does very well with being handled and also petted plus lots people have the chance to touch her and learn from her, shes no diffrent in my eyes than any other pet we love and is a family member..
Love Bird B, in all the yrs i have been working with them and kept them i have never been bittin, come close few times but not bit... "quick knock on wood"... LOL!!!

Cuda,
I think you really answered how a spider can be a good girl by saying you've never been bitten! That works for me and I'm knocking on wood for you. :p

Thanks for the wood knock.. LOL!! No seriously, i have come close but because i have worked with them for soooooooo many yrs and also know what im doing and what signs to watch for and also take precautions with the ones that i know are agressive i have been truely lucky.. You know people dont realize it but each T has its own little personality and temperment.. I have kept and worked with some of the worse temperd and agressive T's its not funny even when the kids was little they knew when i had and was working on a agressive one because they would here me cuss and say OH NO YOU DONT.. its just spider keeper jibberish... LOL!!!:D

LOL you guys are too funny! Question: are there any toys (or other fun, interactive things) for tarantulas? I was sort of discussing that with someone once and we didn't know. Like if a tarantula is bored, what does he do?

Hey Jenny, they dont get board and theres no types toys for them, most will normaly explore there cage alot and hang out waitting for there prey. Alot of times you will see them webbing there cage and also picking up the bedding and filling in there water dish for some reason alot of T's see fit that they dont want a water dish and try to hide it by covering up the dish with bedding, what i call "Bulldozing" is where they deside to push and carry all there bedding just to mess up there cage or make a burrow.. I had a female Kingbaboon do this every night would push all the bedding from one end to the other then the next night do it all over again to put it in another end of the cage...

Do we want to know what a kingbaboon is?

Okay, Barracuda, that's it--I'M SO JEALOUS!!!!!!! :D Your spiders are absolutely BEAUTIFUL!!! Especially India. I liked her. Your millipedes are AWESOME!!!!
Too crazy, it's true, spiders are scary...but for me, they're so scary, they're cool! I used to be deathly afraid of them, and I'd scream for my dad whenever I saw even the tiniest little hopping spider on the wall...but then I went away to sleep away camp in the woods in Wisconsin, and it changed my whole opinion...I became at one with the daddy long legs, lol, at peace with those ugly little brown spiders that bite you when you're sleeping and leave ugly big red spots on your nose! That was horrid! But, anywaaay.....

Ahhhh yes. I remember the days of calling my dad to kill the spiders. I came running out of my bedroom screaming spider and he thought I said fire. He was sleeping on the couch and about killed himself getting to my room and when he realized I said spider, I thought he was gonna kill me instead of it!! I live out in the country now and see more of the crepy crawlers than I want! But while I still think their ugly, I'm not as afraid as I used to be.;)

I bet cuda's house is one happening place at Halloween!. All them critters... they are gorgeous!... and theres probably no worries for burglars either LOL. Hey, what female critter rips off the males head when they get done mating?. I'm kinda intrigued with that one. Thank you so much cuda for sharing your pics and knowledge!!. Its so fascinating.

Squawksx3,
" what female critter rips off the males head when they get done mating?"
Well there are several critters that will do that but the best one is the female Praying Mantis, not only does she rip his head off but eats his whole body...
:D

Yes i feel like shaking my clothes out as well. One thing i have to do is draw the line at spiders myself. i can't beleive that i looked at these pics with a minimal amount of screaming. i am a really bad arachniphobic. but i do admire cuda's courage and dedication

I feel itchy now!!! Get 'em off me!! :)
I'm not sure I want to know, but what does a spider that big eat??
Stuff like insects, I guess. Watched a documentary on tarantulas some time ago... well actually spiders in general. I still don't know what they eat, but they kinda' weave a trapline or something instead of a web.
