View Full Version : My cat is insane.

I have a question maybe someone has a answer. I have a 2 year old male cat. I have had him since he was a baby. He has been to the vet and given a clean bill of health. He is a little on the big side. But out of the blue he will go what seems to me as completely insane. He will go into a frantic run, throughout the entire house. And randomly stop and start licking himself in a very rough manner like he is trying to get something off of him. He will do this for an hour and then he will be fine. Any ideas.

Your cat sounds normal to me. I've often seen them playing just like you decscribed. :)

Sounds okay to me too. Stache is 5 now and he still has these episodes. He'll go tearing through the house, jumping and snatching at things that aren't there. Looks all the world like he does when he has managed to get a bird in the house and is trying to recaptured it. Me and my dogs just watch, laugh, and shake our heads. Who knows with cats!

These "episodes" are very normal for cats. Also known as the Kitty 500, they are largely triggered because cats see things that we can't and are simply reacting to what is there but not seen by us mere humans.
Speculation is that these beings they can see are actually from another dimension.
Have you ever watched a cat sit in a corner for long periods of time and stare at apparently nothing? I believe that they are actually engaged in serious information exchange with one of these pan-dimensional "lifeforms" and I shudder to think what directives are given out during these exchanges. I'm not even sure who is the one issuing the directives - I'd like to think my cat is.
Of course, I could be wrong....

My kitty's do this when the 'boogie kitty' is after them. Our 'boogie kitty' lives in the basement and sometimes the cats will come flying up the stairs and go running to our bedroom. Well we know the 'boogie kitty' is scaring them again. :D

Yes, the boogie kitty is the boogie mans pet. He is one of those pet owners that abandon their pets though because he moved out but left his cat here!:p Maybe he's back in your closet!!

The Cat sounds normal to me.My cat will do the same thing and even adds some table surfing and cleans the the top table and things go flying. Then theres 5:00 in the morning when he uses you as a race track and scares the heck out of you.Having something run across your head in the morning makes you dive for cover.OH YEA your cat is normal.

Too Crazy if were talking about the same cat then i know you got a strait jacket handy just in case your cat drives you crazy.Babba is the best thing that ever happened to me but there are times he is very demanding.I know one time i had company over and one of them had to go to the bathroom.Well Babbas litter box is in the bathroom and he was in it.When the person went in he went goofy and started MEOWING.I had to ask the person to wait until Babba was done because he liked his privacy. He tells me when its time to go to bed and like a alarm clock gets me up between 5:00 and 6:00 in the morning.Theres much more but if your cat is like him you get a lot of love to.

LOL... "excuse me?... I was using this potty box first!". Sheesh.. company can be so rude sometimes. So what if you want to sleep in one day brother grandpa Lou?. I think you should take Maggie home so she can keep Babba in line once in awhile... you know how wives can be sometimes.... course, Im not like that LOL. And you're right about sis having a straight jacket.. but I wont get into that one LOL :p

Gee thanks sis! What a sweetie you are!;) Lou, I have 4 cats and on the week-ends, they wake us up at 5 am because thats what time they are used to eating. When will they learn they don't eat that early on Sundays?? I used to have a litter box in the bathroom and everytime I went in to use use it, so did my Siamese. I think it's cool how they have their little quirks and things they do that are unique to them but you sure do miss it when their gone!:(

You may be right "too crazy".When he gets on a running spree and jumps on the table and him and table cloth goes surfing things go flying.I just sit and wait then clean up and he sits on the floor and watches.Really what else can a person do.

Squawks and I are sister wanna-be's! There is a thread is the pet pics called family portraits and a bunch of us posted our pictures. Someone commented that we look so much alike we could be sisters. Well it just took off from there and we tease each other just like sisters would...and we haven't even met each other! Just goes to show you how cool this board is. Everyone gets along so well here! I have to agree our animals train us. But I know I wouldn't have it any other way!:D

OK.. now I'm confused and lack of sleep isn't helping LOL... is it Babba or Bubba?. I like Babba cause I think of "babba louuuu" .. or is it bobba lou?.... Where is that from anyways... TV? song?... think I may need your straight jacket for awhile sis... and you know mom always liked you best... you know how she always tells everyone my dad is the milkman!.
Another gorgeous pic of Babba-Bubba.. Lou!.

I thought it was bubba louuuu from the jungle book but I'm not sure. The only thing I know for sure is your dad IS the milkman and mom DOES like me best. And please don't blame your confusion on lack of sleep. Aren't you like this all the time??:D

LOL ... your cat sounds normal to me too. So, that's what you call it when cats run around like crazy ... now I'll know how to call when when my cats do it. LOL. By the way, my 20-yr old cat still does the "Kitty 500" every now and then ... and she can still table surf too! :D

Does his lower back twitch and he would chase his tail in cycles and attack it? My kitty does these which looks to me as he is angry at not being able to control the jerking. Is that what you meant by licking it which seems like he trys to get ride of something?
I am actually looking for an answer to it and find this site. You can search for Hyperesthesia on the web to get more information if those are the things your cat does also.
