I had a lizard named Layla. I also had a neighbor named William. William was my best friend. But one time, we were playing with Layla (Layla was a boy lizard). William held Layla upside-down by her foot!!!!!! He broke her leg and she suffered for 3 or 5 years!!!! But, she died last year because of her foot. WAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!

You let Layla suffer 3-5 years (until she died) from a broken foot???? Why didn't you take him to the vet? I'm sorry but I find you inhumane!

I'm sorry... I didn't know that lizards could go to the vet and she didn't suffer too much only a little. :(

I agree with Amanda, there are lots excellent herp vets out there, and that wasnt to cool to hurt the lizard that way, lizards and other herps are very delicate and need to be treated with respect.. They "cant" grow a leg back but there tails can grow back even though it wont look the same.. No one is arguing here we just feel that it was very wrong that happend to the poor little lizard.. Please befour getting another lizard or any other herp for that matter please do some reaserch and make sure to care for it properly...;)

Amanda, that's horrid. You don't know if she took it to the vet or not! Plus, even if you did know, you didn't have to be so mean about it! Lilpuppygal, I'm really sorry to hear about your lizard. He's in a better place now.

SpiderLover, you are entitled to your opinion if you think I'm mean by speaking my mind and telling this person (lilpuppygal) that I find her treatment of her animals to be inhumane. After reading ALL the posts that lilpuppygal has posted on this site, I find it very hard to imagine this person to be a responsible pet owner.
I wholeheartedly welcome new members here and will gladly try to help or just enjoy their stories and pictures. However, post after post lilpuppygal has told "horror stories" (dog getting hit by a car, dog getting lost, lizard suffering from a broken leg for years, etc...) about the tragic events her pets have had to endure. None of her posts ever describes a "happy ending" for the animal, unless it is by death.
I find lilpuppygal (or her parents, if she is a minor) negligent in her duties to care for ANY of her pets properly ... and that is something I just can't condone!
P.S. Have you read all her posts? What's your input on them, SpiderLover?

I must side with Amanda on this one... I have read lilpuppygals posts, and they are all tragic. They almost seem "fake". You know that saying "Too good to be true?" Her situations with her pets seems the EXACT opposite of that saying. Who knows...

This post doesn't make any sense, either. She clearly states that Layla was a "boy lizard", then refers to it as a "her, or she" the rest of the post. Hmmm............Maybe just because she is like 10 years old or something, which sounds to be the case.

Sure does sound like a Shamu deal! SpiderLover, please go to members and look up lilpuppygal and read all of her posts. I think you will then see why Amanda said what she said. We are not a mean group of people and we NEVER fight amongst ourselves as other boards do. Before judging Amanda or anyone else, you need to know the whole story.

I agree with emroul. Is it a girl/boy/typo?

Well, obviously it must be a younger kid because she said that her best friend lived next door to her and hopefully an adult wouldn't hold a lizard like that!!!!! :(

I am sorry but I agree with everyone there are a whole lot of really good vets out there. I would not have let my little girl suffer like that. I rescued mine from the SPCA so that she would not get put down, I took her to the vet first thing after i got her because she has a club tail that will never grow back because of the abuse she went through before i saved her. If u didn't know that there are herp vets out there then u don't deserve to own such beautiful and exotic animals

I'm sorry but i just went back and read alot of lilpuppygirls posts and a few years back i had a friend[ the key word here is HAD]. Thios person wentinto my former lizards house and tried to pick her up. she was not used to anyoneholding her at the time she wasonly 3 years old and shewas getting hurt by this man who was squeezing her terribly, so hard in fact he literally squeezed the **** right out of her literally. My young son went upstairs to the lizard's house at the time and yelled for mr to go up there to her. I saw what tis former friend was doing and i grabbed my lizard from him gently set her down and proceededto beat the living hell out of this guy and promptly threw himout of my house for good. I nursed "missy" for about one week and took her to the vet when she stopped eating completely. We decided that since she was so badly injured that she would be best off if she was put down. She could not walk properly, had lost her sense of balance, could not eat and lost her will to even hold her own head up. The vet gave me some meds. for her and let me take her home to go to sleep. That was the hardest thing that i ever had to do. I have never spoken to my former best of friends since that incident 5 years ago now
