When my friend would go out in public with me and my duck, she would get very disgusted by all the dumb questions...like, "Is it alive?", "Is it a pet?" (sitting on my lap in a matching outfit!)...
Once on the 4th of July a bunch of us went out to popular place to watch fireworks. I was dressed as Mother Goose and took my duck, Matilda, to visit with people. While I was gone for a while, a man came by and remarked to my friend that he thought it was terrible that I had the duck, but we were eating chicken. My friend looked at him with a perfectly straight face and said, "This isn't chicken. It's duck. The last one didn't work out!"
