 I need some help!! I have a 9mo old lab/bulldog mix. Lately he was been throwing up and constant diarraha (sp?). I have changed his food a couple of times. I was told to give him one cup of boiled chicken and steamed rice for 5 days. I started that 3 days ago. It seemed to work the first couple of days. He wasnt throwing up and had normal bowels. But today, its all wrong. i cant tell his bowels from vomit. They both look pretty nasty and dark. But his energy level is still high and he's very playful but his eating habits have changed and he is becoming skinny. Im going to make him an appt for this week but I need help til I can get him into the vets. Please someone with knowledge of what I'm talking about, PLZ PLZ HELP!

Hi, I would definately get him into the vet tomorrow. And if there is a vet hospital that is open tonight and it's possible to bring him in it wouldn't hurt.
You may want to try some pepto bismal and see if that helps settle his stomach. But from what you describe, he needs to be seen.
Please let us know how things go.

the 1st thing that comes to my mind is colitis - click here to learn more about Colitis (http://www.executec.com/colitis.htm)
one of my babies gets this every other month - in the mild form.
i suggest you have the vet check it out asap.
Does/did your dog drink out of a pond, lake, stream, or some other water source outdoors? Or eat feces? Shadow does this, she is especially fond of horse manure, and picks up a protozoa. The symptoms she gets are exactly what you describe. She is her usual self, except not very interested in food unless it is people food (and she is allergic to chicken and too damn spoiled to eat boiled rice), has chronic diareah and vomiting (both nasty). Get to the vet RIGHT AWAY. A simple blood culture done in house and some pills will take care of this. Keep us posted.
