You have a newfie? Geez I love them, we used to have a half-newf years back.

Ok, moo (my own opinion, hmm, somehow that looks a bit odd) cooked chicken bones splinter more than raw. Very cooked chicken bones are soft. My golden finds them no matter how well I seem to dispose of them lol.

I don't worry as much with the thicker bones, or smaller ones, its the long, thin ones or dry ones that seem to splinter.

I try not to make a habit of giving them to her, but as long as she seems to have *chowed them down* without problems I haven't seemed to have to worry.

Sorry, but I have to disagree. I had a cat die who choked on a chicken drummie bone. Pulled it out of a garbage can and we found it next to his body. Dogs might have bigger mouths and can handle bigger pieces, but cooked chicken bones can splinter, get stuck in their throats, puncture their digestive tracts, and cause devastating effects.

IMO - I will never give cooked chicken bones to my babies. I had the lesson that I dont wish on anyone and will never forget!

It is never good for dogs to eat any bones from cooked meat. Some people do give dogs "raw" chicken legs with the bones still in them. But this is different. The bones are soft and uncooked. The bones in cooked meat break and splinter very easily. It is near good to give dogs bones from cooked meat!
