Free feeding does not work on all dogs. Some people don't realize this. Not every dog knows its limit and not every dog believes that tomorrow there will be more food. Instead they overeat. Keep an eye on that new pooch. If it is rear end up in a bag of kibble, you may need to keep it under closed doors. I know I do. Thought he still swallows his food instead of chewing it

This sounds kinda like my dog.
Everyday after I come home I'll give him a jerky treat for no reason. So now, everyday, he's waiting. Of course I'm strict and I give him jerkies on alternate days. That's okay right?

Its up to you when you wanna give your dog a treat. Too many treats spoil a dog just like a kid. But I give my dog 2 a day and never at the same time as the day before. But whenever he goes to my grandparent's place he gets one when he gets in the door. So really its up to you.

Once upon a time I had 5 dogs which I kept to a strict twice a day feeding for about 4 years. Once their food intake habit was well established, and we saw that we had no gulpers, we started free feeding them. In our case it worked, but I can see if you have one that eats everything in its path (like my puppy Sampson), you can't free feed.

Well my pooch is only 3 so maybe in a few years he'll calm down. But now he still acts like his meal is his last. And twice a day he goes at sits infront of his foodbag waiting for his meal. He's so cute
