It may sound strange that my yorkies don't play with toys.. but yup, they don't. They seemed to get scared and just walk away from stuffed toys.. from squeaky ones.. you name it. So, I got them Kongs.. but the hair the kong picks up from the floor, which my dogs swallow, makes them vomit, so I've stopped using Kong.. which was the only "toy" to have gotten their interest..

Since they are getting old, I just want them to be engaged, and just be a bit more active.. I'm afraid that their age might take a toll on them quicker if
they are not mentally stimulated.. and all... you know what I mean...

Is there a way to get them to play with a toy though they weren't introduced to toys as puppies? (It's been a year I've been with them..) Or to play "throw and fetch?"

Do you sit on the floor and try to play with them to get them going? Some dogs just are not big on toys. At one time I had four cockers. Two of them loved to play with their toys, carry them around, play catch, etc. The other two just had no interest at all.

Have you tried treat balls that you can put dry treats in? That way it shouldn't pick up hair

Squashnose, what is a dri treat ball? Is it plastic? Can you recommend one?
Yeah.. I think that will work. thanks

Newfiegirl, yeah.. i get on my all four and try to play with them. like biting their legs.. or just jump as and chase them as if i was a four legged creature.. it just doen't work well. they just lower their heads and act as if i've gone mad.

I just mean any treat ball (hollow ball with holes) and put biscuits in it, or bits of mixer or kibble. Any pet store should sell them, and I guess they're all pretty much the same, apart from plastic or rubber, size and colour. :D
