I need your help to write letters. Three men are accused in Ellsworth, WI of throwing a Dalmation/Lab puppy from a car going at least 80 mph. When these jerks realized the puppy had survived that ordeal, they attempted to finish it off by kicking it. Luckily the law intervened, and the pup survived with a broken paw and abrasions. These young men, David C, Haider, 18, Joseph A. Anderson 20, and Jay P. Barton 19, have been charged with misdemeanor counts of animal mistreatment! Can you believe this, and are to appear in court on Jan. 26. So far I've written the DA, Court Commissioner, and Judge who will hopefully hear this case, and "embellish" their punishment. I've written a letter to the editors of the Pierce County Herald, and The River Falls Journal. I've contacted my Humane Society in Oshkosh, WI to hopefully get letters written from those members. My wish is to inundate the DA with so many letters, that they HAVE to deal with this horrible act, not just slap these jerks' hands and give them a little fine. Will anyone help, even with just one letter? The DA is John O'Boyle, Court Commissioner is Julia Gehring, and the Judge who will hopefully hear this is Robert W. Wing. They all can be written at the Pierce County Wisconsin Circuit Court, 414 West Main, P.O. Box 129, Ellsworth, WI 54011. You can fax a letter to the editor of the Pierce County Herald @ 715-273-4335, or the River Falls Journal Fax @ 715-425-5666. I'd like to think we can make a difference. If anyone could pass this along to others like us who love our critters..I'd so appreciate it! THANKS!

You are absolutely right Daisy.
Will you help out and write to the DA, or all three?
I am glad you responded.
Thanks!

How about a petition? Maybe if you got enough signatures, it might help as well.
People like these 3 make me so mad!

You guys are super-a petition is a great idea if you''d be able to do it for me. I've been busy contacting tons of animal welfare and rescue groups everynight-I've sent my appeal out fo over two hundred folks so far. I'm not done yet!
This case is heard on Jan 26, so there's still some time to get moving. If there are enuff letters, etc., then it just won't get dismissed, like so many of these often are.
Thanks! Keep me posted!

There are also e-petition websites that let you create petitions that people can sign, then you can forward it to the offending party.
www.petitiononline.com is one example
Good luck!

Here in Michigan, a guy was sent to jail for throwing a kitten out of the window on the expressway and it died. This just happened in the last month or so. Maybe you can use some info from that to help convict your 'stupid boys' I don't know how to find that info though because I heard it on the news but someone else might. I'll sign a petition!!

The petition info is appreciated, but the case will be heard on Jan 26, and hopefully not just dismissed. So our time is quickly running out. I've contacted over 100 agencies, and animal people. But, there's still time to get a letter sent to the DA and Court Commissioner.
Thanks for your help-you folks have been super.

People like that just make me sick. Are they so stupid or cruel that they can't find better ways of entertaining themselves than torturing animals? And a PUPPY, at that?! Maybe the judge should throw them off the top of a bus going 50 mph and then they can see how much fun it is. And if they dont get the point after that, then they can be run over with the bus a couple times. :D Unfortunately I read this post too late to send a letter out or else I would have. :( What did the judge rule in this case?

I agree, thanks for responding.
There's still time to write a letter to Judge Robert W. Wing before these guys appear before him on Feb 11.
You'll feel alot better telling the judge how you feel.
I got a report from their local paper after the jerks appeared on Jan 28. Apparently the puppy belonged to a former roomate of the three. In the complaint, Barron said Anderson threw the puppy from the speeding vehicle, "When they stopped to see the puppy, which was bleeding heavily from its nose, Barron kicked it because he said "he wanted to put it out of its misery, and that he returned to the car to get a metal pipe to kill it. Haider told him to get in the car, and the three left the puppy at the side of the road. The puppy, found at a residence nearby, was reunited with its owner."
I'm trying not to cry as I type this to you.
I'd like to go into that courtroom myself on Feb 11 with a metal pipe. You know how I feel.
Thanks!
