I came home from getting a new car (it's a Honda Pilot, thats really nice by the way, I highly recommend it) & my snake was just laying in his cage, I picked him up and he didn't move a muscle, literally! I thought he was dead, so I put him back in his ccage, & turned off the light. Well I took a ride with my mom, cause thats when I do when I don't feel "good" I came back & he was curled in a ball. That was not how I left him. He also has a black circle with a yellow ring around it, near the end of his tail. I'm going to take him to the place where I got him from tomorrow. More news later! Pray for me...:(

Can you get a picture of it? and how is your husbandry(How are you taking care of it), what cage is he in, substrate, what are you feeding him. I would bring him to a vet if i were you.

First off, what breed of snake is it? And you said you turned the light off in his enclosure, that may be half the problem. Snakes are not like humans, they are coldblooded. simply meaning if the environment they are in (IE the cage) is 70F degrees, they themselves are 70F degrees. That's very cold, and what snakes do to handle this is go into an almost lethargic phase where they get very stiff and do not use any muscles because that would take energy they no longer have. Snakes need it warm . Also, it rolled up into a ball..making me think it is a ball python. If not, please correct me. But these little guys are known and named accordingly as ball pythons because they roll up into a very tight ball to try to stay away from harm. It's just what they do, and not many snakes do this so it can be weird to see at first.
Hope this helped alittle, and good luck with him. Answering some of the questions here and in the above posts can help us to help you further. But yes, if you are truely concerned a vet trip will not hurt anything and is actually advised.

I'm sorry I have not informed you all sooner, but Monty passed away within a day or two of my post. Yes, he was a ball python, & there was a rather large black spot on his underside when he was dead. I started school and was so caught up in my studies I had no extra time to reply and tell you all he was gone (nor time to greive). I still have not fully cleaned his cage, nor put it away. I miss him, but school is keeping me busy, as I have said. Thanks for the replies any way. I'm glad there are people like you all, & I could update you on my happenings.
