About 4 Weeks Ago I Got My Jack Russell x Yorkie And Just Last Week She Had Her Last Injection So I Thought I Would Try Her On The Leash. But She Just layed Down On The Pavement And Wouldn't Move I Tried Luring Her With A Treat But She Wouldnt Move. Shes Got A Clip On Collar At The Minute. I Am Curious If Maybe A Buckle Collar Is Better Off. Most Puppies Are Exicted On The Leash And Your Have To Pull Them Back. But Lillie Won't Budge. Im Completley Baffled, Can You Help Me:confused:

I would try a harness, maybe that would be more comfortable. I can't use collars on my poms, it could damage their trachia (not sure of spelling) or break their little necks. Sometimes my puppy gets stubborn and lies down and looks at me like I'm an idiot:) So I have to pick him up and carry him for a minute then let him back down. I just keep saying lets go! lets go!

I would get a harness, she probably doesn't like the feel around her neck. Plus, I personally think the collar is easier to escape from if the dog gets excited or scared. Then your dog is loose with no id on them if they do get off of it.
Put the harness on her a couple of times before taking her for a walk, so she gets used to the feel of it, even clip the leash on and let her run around the house dragging it, and walk her around the house (since it's her "comfort zone") then she will feel more comfortable going out for a walk.
She might also just be scared of the big outside world, it's a whole new experience for her. Try just sitting outside on the steps or something with her so she can adjust to all the sights and smells.

this is funny only because i thought i was the only one with a stbborn dog my mini shih zu would never walk on her leash but it was my fault we always just walked her off the leash and she would be fine the day i got her a leash it was hell she would cry bloody murder like someone was trying to kill her i almost felt like giving up cause everyone will just stop and stare until i tried everyday until she finally got use. i made it seem like going out side was the biggest thing since slice bread now she will jump through a hoop just to put her leash on and go for a walk :) so dont give up ........:)

You ever try running with her while shes on the leash? My dog always thinks its a game, and she'll try to "race" me wherever I'm going

I agree with phillydogs, putting the leash on in inside, and then letting them drag it around always helps when we're leash training the puppies at work. Some of them freak out when they're first on the lead, as it's completely unnatural to them, but it's just a case of slowly getting them used to the idea of being attached.
Also maybe if you have her on the lead, and then have someone else call her to them and you reward her, she'll see that being on the lead isn't bad?
