It seems we pro's are getting into a very childish peeing contest on the board here. I would like to apologise to any my posts may have offended in the passion of this debate.
In a nutshell, none of us have the right to diagnose a problem absolutely without seeing and spending time with the animal and seeing how it and the owner react. that's my beef, not every problem is a dog trying to be alpha, there are fear biters, insecure dogs, seperation anxiety and other obsessions to deal with.
The angle to deal with each of these is totally different, and there I will stand my ground (politely, I promise)
I've used every method mentioned for correction at one time or another, so I have no qualms about any, just who uses them and why.
In the hands of an amatuer, most devices can be dangerous and/or cruel.
I will never recommend any methods I feel are harsh or too technical unless I know the dog, owner and circumstances. Even then, it may not be the correct one!
