Well my rott jus recently went to the vet because hes bin limping for a while now(bout 3 weeks) on his shoulder..good news is she was really confident that it was arthitis actually she said it was called barthritus? i think she called it i think she said it was a bad case of arthitus but she scared me because she mentioned how u have to watch out for a bone tumor and how its common in older bigger dogs and my dog was about 170lbs but he jus recently lost about 20-25lbs...now she really got me thinking now about this so is there any obvious sympthoms for a bone tumor...right now hes jus limping no crying or nothin u can just tell hes uncomfortable, his shoulder shakes a little she said swelling is a main sympthom of it is there any others? is crying a main sympthom? or something please tell me something that would make me be sure its not a bone tumor...also she was gonna x ray him but i cant afford it at all its way too much money and she said if she did x ray him and it was just arthritus theres not much they can do but give him medicine so she just put him on deramax? i think it was called and she told us to buy this human arthitus medicine so were gonna do that if someone can get back to me asap please let me no thanks

My last dog had bone cancer. It was in her jaw. We saw a tissue reaction under her tounge and along her gumline. There was also a slight change in her voice. That was what sent us to the vet. This dog had several fatty tumors, and one very large benign tumor on her leg.

Please don't sit there and scare yourself. I know it is easy when the vet makes some offhand comment, and now you are wondering if you should have asked more questions while you were there.

You could also look into alternative therapies. I am an animal massage therapist, and have seen firsthand how much difference even one session of massage can make for a dog.

I charge $55 per session, and that includes the housecall. If I know that cost is a concern, and that the animal has reason for ongoing sessions I will always work with the owners. It is about the animals after all.

Pets are our lives and unfortunatly they all do not live to be a ripe old age and die of natural causes. Please don't let your dog suffer and you be in misery because of the vet bill. Most vets I know will work with you and help with payment opts. I wish you good luck and I hope you are not waiting for someone to "diagnose" your dogs health issue because that is simply impossible to do without one of two things (1. They are a vet (2. they have had an identicle problem and can tell you their experiences.
