2 of my barbs died, i had 3. Im guessing the ph was too high because it was at a high 7.6-8.0 so i got some ph 7.0 and just dropped him in.. hope is is ok.

8.0 isn't really that high, while higher phs are best for african cichlids.
sounds like stocking to fast, which can not only make ur water parameters freak out, but can import alot of dieases, some of which can be hidden.
